Florida Blue, a Jacksonville-based health insurance provider, announced Sept. 17 that it has signed a three-year agreement with a Central Florida primary care provider.
Maitland-based Physicians Trust MSO LLC is what?s known as a managed service organization, serving Florida Blue Medicare, Health Options Inc. and Medicare Advantage plans. The three-year agreement was effective Sept. 1, the Orlando Business Journal reports.
The contract is a value-based contract, which means it could help lower health care costs in the region. Lower health care costs translate to lower health care premiums for companies.
?Florida Blue?s Health Option product provides an alternative to traditional Medicare Beneficiaries, offering additional benefits for Medicare members,? said Elizabeth Strombom, senior vice president of government markets at Florida Blue, in the release. ?Value-based contract arrangements are becoming the new normal in an attempt to better control the high cost of patient care.?
