It?s official, Lil? Wayne is coming to South Africa?I know I couldn?t believe it either when I was told a couple of days before the official announcement happened last night. I literally thought people were going to lose their minds ?6 foot, 7 foot?. It?s without a doubt that Weezy is one of the biggest hiphop artisst in 2011 thanks to ?Tha Carter IV?. I?m SUPER excited for his concert, I?m #TeamWeezy all the way :)

You?ll notice below in the press release that Weezy?s Johannesburg tour date is on the 9th Dec, the same day as Drake?s concert!. Tickets to Drake?s concert were sold out in just 2 hours and this was before the HUGE Weezy announcement, so as it turns out those who bought Drake?s tickets now want to sell them for Wayne tickets, lol. Thanks to Weezy, my December holiday will be cut short, there?s just no way I?m going to miss it.

I?m going to try my best to attend both concerts and hope that Drake joins Weezy at the Dome later that night?I can just imagine it already *faints*

Press Release:

He?s hip-hop?s biggest name, its deadliest lyricist and the genre?s most flourishing touring act; he?s an in demand performer with fan bases across the globe; he?s Lil Wayne and in December he?s bringing his worldwide ?I Am Still Music Tour? to South Africa.

This GRAMMY Award winning, multi platinum artist will perform in Cape Town on 7th December at the Bellville Velodrome, followed by a performance at the Coca Cola Dome, Johannesburg on the 9th December and ending in Durban on 11th December 2011. Tickets on sale now at Computicket.? Durban venue to be announced soon, watch the press for details.

Visiting our shores for the first time, this is a major coup for the South African live music scene and for local promoters Canoc Productions who recently brought Trey Songz to this country.? Canoc?s Glen Netshipise says, ?Few will argue with him being the best rapper alive; no rapper has made more hits in modern time than Lil Wayne and his live performances are to die for.? It is our ultimate pleasure to present you Lil Wayne.?

One look at Lil Wayne?s impeccable track record will convince even the most ardent skeptic that the New Orleans born lyricist is a strong contender for the crown of ?greatest hip-hop artist of all times?. Born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., Lil Wayne a.k.a. Weezy F Baby, will go down in history as the best rapper of his generation. Indeed, he may go down as one of the best hip-hop artists ever.

This year alone, Lil Wayne was named one of Forbes Magazine?s top earning rap stars, Rolling Stone Magazine?s ?Hip-Hop Kings,? and he recently performed on MTV Network?s coveted and legendary ?Unplugged? series. Lil Wayne holds the record for the most Top 100 Hits by a Rap Artist with 64 hits between 1999 and 2010.

Musically, Tha Carter series (Tha Carter in 2004, Tha Carter II in 2005, Tha Carter III in 2008) has seen Wayne, a four-time Grammy winner, elevate artistically and his status as the biggest name in music continues to grow. Tha Carter III, is widely regarded as one of the top rap albums of all-time, is the last hip-hop album to sell one million copies in its first week of release and spawned timeless hits such as ?A Milli,? ?Mrs. Officer,? and his first solo number one single ?Lollipop.? The Tha Carter IV album (and his ninth studio album) was released last month, selling more than 960 000 copies in the U.S.A in its first week on sale.

?You can?t compare any other artist out there to me,? the charismatic Lil Wayne rightfully declares. ?They are them, I am me. Nobody can do what I can. I am the best at what I do and that?s everything.?

Despite controversy Lil Wayne continues to successfully build his career and to influence the worldwide hip-hop phenomenon. When he is not recording or on tour, Lil Wayne is CEO of Wayne?s Young Money Entertainment company with its Young Money and Cash Money recording labels that have become the premier brand in music. No other company has been able to break the amount of new acts with the success of Wayne. His franchise players Drake and Nicki Minaj both became household names in 2010 when both of their LPs Thank Me Later and Pink Friday respectfully debuted at the top of the charts and went on to become multi-platinum.

Don?t miss the world?s greatest hip-hop star for just one performance each in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban later this year. Lil Wayne, no-one does it better. ?Don?t drop this one, it?s hot!?
